Zabbix

Zabbix is an enterprise-grade open-source platform for monitoring IT infrastructure, networks, and applications. It provides real-time metrics, alerts, and dashboards, enabling organizations to track performance and availability across their entire technology stack.

The platform collects metrics from virtually any source, including agents, agentless protocols, APIs, containers, databases, and cloud platforms, without requiring custom scripting. It automatically discovers IT resources by scanning network ranges and cloud environments, then applies pre-built templates for immediate monitoring. Real-time problem detection correlates incoming and existing events to identify root causes and trigger alerts the moment thresholds are breached.

Zabbix supports distributed monitoring across multiple sites and tenants, using proxies to collect data from remote locations and forward it to the main server, enabling scalable monitoring across firewalls and network boundaries. It delivers incident notifications across multiple channels including email, Slack, JIRA, Microsoft Teams, and SMS, supporting both proactive and post-mortem alerts. Monitoring data is visualized through interactive graphs, lists, geomaps, and network topology maps in a browser interface without client-side installation.

Features

  • Service & Infrastructure Monitoring - Tracks performance and availability of networks, servers, and cloud services through a distributed monitoring system.
  • Trigger-Based Event Correlation - Evaluates incoming metrics against user-defined expressions to detect problems and correlate events.
  • Alert Escalation Actions - Defines conditional actions that trigger notifications, remote commands, or escalations based on problem severity.
  • Multi-Protocol Monitoring Agents - Supports multiple protocols including SNMP, IPMI, JMX, and custom checks for unified data collection.
  • Distributed Monitoring Proxies - Centralized server proxies collect data from remote locations and forward it to the main server.
  • Alert Notification Systems - Sends notifications via email, Slack, JIRA, Microsoft Teams, or SMS when incidents occur.
  • Real-time Event Triggers - Correlates incoming and existing events to identify root causes and trigger alerts the moment thresholds are breached.
  • Multi-Source - Gathers performance data from agents, agentless protocols, APIs, containers, databases, and cloud platforms.
  • Interactive Monitoring Visualizations - Displays collected metrics and events through interactive graphs, maps, and topology views for a unified operational view.
  • Open-Source Monitoring Platforms - An enterprise-grade open-source platform for monitoring IT infrastructure, networks, and applications.
  • Web-Based Dashboards - Renders real-time and historical monitoring data through interactive graphs, maps, and topology views in a browser.
  • Polling and Trapping Data Collection - Uses both active polling of agents and passive trapping of unsolicited data to gather metrics.
  • Alerting Channel Integrations - Delivers notifications via email, Slack, JIRA, Microsoft Teams, and SMS when incidents occur.
  • Time Series Databases - Stores historical metric data in a time-series database optimized for efficient querying and long-term retention.
  • Infrastructure Discovery Automators - Scans network ranges and cloud environments to detect devices and services for immediate monitoring.
  • HTTP Data Forwarding - Forwards real-time monitoring data to external systems via HTTP for integration with other tools.
  • Multi-Site Monitoring Management - Centralized management of distributed monitoring environments behind firewalls across multiple sites.
  • Monitoring - Pre-built templates define monitoring parameters, triggers, and visualizations for common devices and services.
  • Multi-Site Monitoring - Manages distributed environments behind firewalls with remote command execution across multiple sites.
  • Automated IT Resource Discovery - Scans network ranges and cloud environments to detect devices and services for immediate monitoring.
  • Monitoring Data Visualization - Displays collected metrics and events through graphs, lists, geomaps, and network topology maps.
  • Databases & Data - Enterprise-class monitoring solution.
