## Description

ZotFile is a plugin for Zotero that functions as an academic reference file organizer, attachment manager, and synchronization tool. It is designed to maintain a structured file system of research attachments linked to a bibliographic database.

The project provides rule-based renaming of PDF files and attachments using customizable templates based on library metadata. It also enables the synchronization of documents between a local library and external directories to facilitate reading and annotating on mobile devices.

Additional capabilities include the extraction of highlights and notes from PDF documents for import back into the reference database, as well as the management of physical file paths to ensure links persist when documents are moved.
