Trouble.nvim

Trouble.nvim is a Neovim plugin that provides an interactive, filterable list for browsing and navigating LSP diagnostics, references, and quickfix items. It presents diagnostics grouped by severity and file in a floating window, allowing you to quickly scan and jump to issues across your workspace.

The plugin integrates directly with Neovim's built-in LSP client and quickfix list APIs, pulling data without external dependencies. It offers a sign-based grouping mechanism that visually organizes items by severity or file in the sign column, and includes a severity filter that toggles visibility of grouped entries. For code navigation, it can populate a list of all locations where a symbol is referenced, enabling jump-to-definition-style exploration.

Trouble.nvim also bridges the quickfix list into its floating window interface, giving you a filterable and navigable view of quickfix entries. The plugin maintains per-buffer state for cursor position and filter settings, and renders everything through Neovim's native window and buffer management APIs.

Features

  • Floating List Windows - Renders interactive lists in a floating Neovim window using the built-in Nvim API.
  • LSP Diagnostic Integrations - Pulls diagnostic, reference, and quickfix data directly from Neovim's LSP client.
  • LSP Clients - Views all locations where a symbol is referenced in the project through a structured list.
  • Quickfix List Navigation - Mirrors the Neovim quickfix list into a floating window for interactive navigation and filtering.
  • Symbol Navigation - Uses Neovim's LSP references request to populate a list of file locations for navigation.
  • Severity Level Filtering - Filters displayed diagnostic items by severity level using a state machine.
  • Diagnostics - Pretty list for viewing and managing diagnostics.
