Editable Website

Editable Website is a content management system built with Svelte that enables direct inline editing of static web pages without needing a database. It functions as a Git-backed web content editor and a component-based static site builder, storing all website text, configuration, and files in local Git repositories to ensure full data ownership and local version control.

The platform supports in-browser content management, allowing users to modify text, format styles, and compose structured page layouts using interactive blocks, drag-and-drop interactions, and keyboard shortcuts. Additional content workflows include rendering markdown documents as read-only web pages, managing navigation links, and applying visual styling adjustments and custom components. Media management features enable drag-and-drop uploads and rich media embedding, accompanied by a background media optimization pipeline that compresses assets, generates responsive variants, and deduplicates files locally.

Data storage and hosting capabilities include automated database migrations executed during server startup, cloud storage replication to S3-compatible buckets on every write operation, environment snapshot and data restoration routines, and automated cloud server provisioning scripts.
